Parliament
Parliament is bicameral and is located in Kuala Lumpur.
The Dewan Rakyat (House of Representatives) has 192 members. 144 members are from Peninsular Malaysia. 27 members are from Sarawak. 20 members are from Sabah. 1 member is from Labuan. They are elected to five-year terms by popular vote. The Dewan Negara (Senate) has 69 members. 2 members are elected by each of 13 provincial legislatures. 43 members are appointed by the king on the advice of the prime minister. They serve three-year terms.
