Parliament
Parliament is bicameral and is located in Jakarta.
The House of People’s Representatives has 500 members. 462 members are elected by popular vote. 38 members are appointed by the armed forces. Thy serve five-year terms. It meets yearly. The People’s Consultative Assembly has 700 members. 500 members are from the House of People’s Representatives. 135 members are chosen by provincial legislatures. 65 members are appointed by the General Elections Commission.
