The following are common examples.

  • Bile Acid Sequestrants — cholestyramine [Questran and others], colestipol [Colestid]
  • Fibrates — clofibrate (Atromid-S), fenofibrate (Tricor), gemfibrozil [Lopid], and others
  • Statins (HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors) — atorvastatin [Lipitor], pravastatin [Pravachol, Selektine], rosuvastatin [Crestor], simvastatin [Zocor], and others)

  • Deplete: A, beta carotene, B3, B12, D, E, K, folic acid, calcium, copper, electrolytes, iron, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, zinc, EFAs, CoQ10




  • Note: Statin drugs rapidly deplete CoQ10 (about 50% of the body’s total within two weeks.)
