- Zika fever
- A disease produced by flaviviruses (an arbovirus genus), but is not as dangerous to humans as yellow fever, dengue, and other henorrhagic fevers, including encephalitis, that are also caused by flaviviruses. The few recorded cases show symptoms of fever, chills, headache, nausea, and a typical tropical-type rash. A closely related virus is the cause of Spondweni fever named after the South African district where it was first recognized.
