Ida Red

Ida Red

This is by far the most favorite North American apple used for making applesauce.

It is an American apple that was bred in Idaho in the 1930′s and 40′s from a Jonathan and a Wagener.

The result was an Ida Red which is a medium-sized round apple with a sweet but moderately acidic flavour.

It has good keeping properties.
