An Invitation
Have you had an unusual travel experience that you would be willing to share? It can involve an unusual means of travel or it can involve an unusual experience during a routine trip. What would we consider an unusual travel experience? First, read the stories in this section. A trip that is interesting and educational but lacking an element of uniqueness would not be considered here.
Here are examples of the type of story for which we are looking;
- aboard an airliner that has been hijacked;
- survived an air crash;
- travelled by balloon for at least fifty miles;
- travelled on a space flight from Cape Canaveral;
- aboard the Sunset Limited when it crashed into a bayou in 1993;
- rode on the Patagonia Ushuaia Train;
- travelled by dog team for at least fifty miles in the Arctic region;
- travelled in a camel caravan in North Africa or Arabia;
- was on a ship that passed through the Northwest Passage;
- travelled by canoe on the Amazon River for at least one day;
- sailed alone across an ocean;
- swam in a marathon of at least twenty-five miles;
- survived a blizzard for at least one day when the car was marooned;
- trekked to the peak of a mountain of at least 20,000 feet elevation;
- walked on a mountain trail for at least fifty miles in a single trip;
- trekked by foot at least fifty miles in a jungle;
- escaped to another country from a tyranical government at home (by boat or by walking);
- travelled at least one hundred miles by any means as a hostage.
These are some of the many possibilities that you can consider. Your travel experience may not be as unique as some of the above, but it may be unique, nevertheless. If you have had a unique travel experience and you would like to submit your story, contact us and tell us the nature of the event. If we be willing to include it, we shall contact you and give you directions. This is a volunteer project only. What you have learned from your experience may help someone in a similar situation in the future.
