The Rocky Mountaineer is a tourist train with high fares. It runs from Vancouver, BC, to Calgary, AB. Since it is a day train only to allow passengers to see all the scenery, there is an overnight stay at a hotel in Kamloops, BC. The next day the train continues on to Calgary. Passengers come from around the world.
It is a very popular train which CN introduced and later sold to a private owner. The business has grown much since CN sold it and always sells out. The waiters, known as attendants, serve meals to everyone in each coach. These are like high-end airplane meals. The conductor rides at the front end with the engineer. The only other crew member is the head attendant. The names of crew positions have changed much recently. The train makes way for regular traffic by taking sidings and stops at numerous small places of interest along the route.
when working on this train, Peter knew every mile of track. He would point out the sights along the way to passengers. Having numerous Japanese passengers, he was able to pick up a little of their language. Whenever he would greet them in Japanese, the passengers would be so appreciative. He also learned a few words in other languages and applied them from time to time.
