Nitnem is the collection of hymns or verses sung and recited by all practising Sikhs and those who are aware of the teachings of Sri Guru Nanak Dev. The first of thes verses are read every morning, with additional hyms read at sunset or before retiring each day. The bani were composed by the reverend Sikh Gurus and provide devoted Sikhs with daily inspiration. The book is divided into eight parts.
