Introduction

Throughout the history of the world, there have been many deities that have been associated with the various societies. This page deals only with those of the Americas. Although the number in the lists appear to be large, only a small selection is included here. Similarity can be found with deities from other parts of the world. One of the most common gods is a great creator and supreme god who is usually mysterious. It is noted that the beings at all levels show a relationship to the environment of the individual peoples. It is also noted that there appears to be beliefs that are shared by Christianity, although with variations. There seems to have been a common origin of all religions, although many changes have been made over the centuries. There are indeed many unanswered questions about the relationship of societies to their Creator.

In addition to the pages listing deities of the Americas, there is a page listing some of the findings of Thor Heyerdahl and Daniel Brinton in their research about legends of the white, bearded god of the Americas.
