- Alberta Book Awards – recognize excellence in writing and publishing within the province of Alberta, Canada, and are presented annually in two sections: publishing awards by the Book Publishers Association of Alberta, and writing awards by the Writers Guild of Alberta
- B. C. Book Prizes – celebrate the achievements of British Columbia, Canada, writers and publishers
- Book of the Year for Children Award – a book that has been published in Canada during the past year, its author must be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada, and any work that is an act of creative writing (i.e., fiction, poetry, retelling of traditional literature) shall be deemed eligible regardless of published format, including anthologies and collections
- Canada’s Major National Literary Awards – five awards are listed, with category, prize, and annual winners for each
- CLA Young Adult Book Award – presented annually for creative literature: novel, play, or poetry; written by a Canadian, and published in Canada
- Donner Prize – the best book on Canadian public policy
- Floyd S. Chalmers Canadian Play Awards – given to Canadian plays produced in Metropolitan Toronto by any professional Canadian theatre company, open to general public, and having at least 10 performances (in Metro Toronto area)
- Geoffrey Bilson Award – awarded annually to a Canadian author of outstanding work of historical fiction
- Giller Award – the best novel or collection of short stories published in English
- Governor General’s Literary Awards – outstanding Canadian writing in several categories
- Marian Engel Award – awarded each year to a female Canadian writer in mid-career for her body of work
- Mr. Christie’s Book Awards – established in 1990 to encourage the development and publishing of high quality Canadian children’s books created by a Canadian author and/or illustrator, and to stimulate children’s desire to read
- Stephen Leacock Memorial Medal for Humour – presented for a book of humour published in the previous calendar year, written by a Canadian
- Prix Gilles-Corbeil – awarded every three years to a French-language writer in recognition of his or her entire literary output
- Trillium Book Award – open to books published anywhere in the world in any genre: fiction, non-fiction, drama, childrens books, and poetry; and whose authors are Canadian citizens or landed immigrants who have lived in Ontario for at least three out of the past five years
