Parliament is bicameral and is located in Dakar.
The National Assembly has 140 members, who are elected to five-year terms by popular vote. The Senate has 60 members. 45 members are elected by members of the National Assembly and by local, municipal, and regional councillors. 12 members are appointed by the president. 3 members are elected by Senegalese living abroad.
